You, my favorite DJ

Every week I check into BBC online to listen to the worldwide show with Gilles Peterson. I love most of the music he plays, and half the music I have bought within the last 5 years has been things I have first heard through his show.

The taste making influence of DJ’s is well known. And since you are probably not too interested in my musical tastes, I will get to the point.

Everyone is a DJ!!

In the broadcast society you needed the permission of an organisation like the BBC to reach the broad audience. Today anyone can reach an audience and influence your opinion, in the way Gilles influences my musical taste. This could be through a blog or through simply having interesting tags on delicius.

Give the DJ’s access
In order for a DJ to recommend a product, he needs to be familiar with it. This is way it makes sense to send the DJ’s free copy of your music.

Whether you produce music, video or knowledge, there are many DJs within your area.
-Reaching these can help to create an interest in you and your product.
—Giving a quality product away for free can help you reach these people.
——Adapting a freemium business model can help you make this profitable.

Giving it away and praying is not a business model. For this to work, you have to use freemium strategically.
