Freemium in law firm


Law firms provide excellent examples of how a knowledge-based company can provide free for freemium.

Scholarly lawyers have been using a freemium like model for a number of years. By publishing articles about a certain subject, they show the world that they are experts in this particular subject. They then create a revenue stream by consulting for companies on this subject.

Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich, and Rosati, one of Silicon Valley’s dominant law firms (with clients like Apple & HP), has created a free, online term sheet generator. This tool will “let you create a venture financing term sheet based on your responses to an online questionnaire. It also has an informational component, with basic tutorials and annotations on financing terms.” (through Guy Kawasaki’s blog)
