Smashing pumpkin has decided to released their latest album for free.As it is explained on their blog, the music will be completely free:
Free will mean free, which means you won’t have to sign up for anything, give an email address, or jump through a hoop. You will be able to go and take the song or songs as you wish, as many times as you wish.
Diving into freemium with a great free product, they intent to make money from selling “highly limited edition EP’s” and possibly a range of other products.
Following in the footsteps of Nine Inch Nails and many lessor known musicians, Smashing Pumpkins is setting up a music freemium. Once the album is out and the financial results are in, I look forward to giving you more about this.
